Toowoomba Choral Society teams up with Ipswich Orpheus

The Toowoomba Choral Society together with the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale, and the Chorale’s newly formed Ipswich Orpheus Orchestra, is proud to present a wonderful celebration of sacred choral music for two performances only.  ‘Together in Song’ will feature some of the best sacred choral works ever produced from two of the finest community choral groups in the region, led by TCS conductor Mrs Elizabeth Egan, and Ipswich Orpheus Chorale Conductor Dr Thomas Keenan.

The Toowoomba Choral Society and the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale have had a long standing history in our region and have competed regularly in the Queensland Eisteddfod for many years.  ‘Although our choirs compete against each other in the QLD Eisteddfod, we are all good friends. So when Ipswich Orpheus Chorale conductor Thomas Keenan proposed the idea of doing a joint concert, I gratefully accepted’. TCS Conductor Mrs Egan said.

This enthralling concert will presents excerpts from Brahms’ German Requiem , performed as a massed choir with the Orchestra, along with many other beautiful Choral works including ‘The Power and the Glory’, ‘O Clap your Hands’, ‘The Lord is My Shepherd’, ‘Ring Out Wild Bells’, ‘Festival Sanctus’ and ‘Benedictus’ to name a few.  The orchestra will also present some stirring works including Elgar’s ‘Nimrod' from ‘Enigma Variations’, Rimksy-Korsakov‘s ‘Procession of the Nobles’ and many more.

This is an event not to be missed by lovers of fine choral and orchestral music.
